Chip-scale solar thermal electrical power generation

There is an urgent need for alternative compact technologies that can derive and store energy from the sun, especially large amount of solar heat not effectively used power generation. Here, we report a combination solution- neat-film-based molecular thermal (MOST) systems, where be stored as chemical released heat, with microfabricated thermoelectric generators to produce electricity when radiation available. The photophysical properties two MOST couples are characterized both in liquid catalytical cycling setup phase-interconvertible neat film. Their suitable let us combine them individually microelectromechanical ultrathin chip use electrical generator produce, proof concept, output up 0.1 nW (power per unit volume 1.3 W m−3). Our results demonstrate such generation system has high potential transfer into thus potentially independent geographical restrictions.
